Jeon Seo-hyun, Jeonnam Provincial Assembly Member, Proposes Formation of Medical School Attraction Task Force
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] The Jeonnam Provincial Council announced on the 30th that the "Resolution to Establish the Jeonnam Medical School Attraction Countermeasures Committee," proposed by Assemblyman Jeon Seo-hyun (People Power Party, proportional representation), was unanimously passed at the 364th 2nd plenary session.
This resolution expresses the council's strong commitment to vigorously promote the attraction of a medical school to Jeonnam at the government level by forming a countermeasures committee consisting of one provincial assembly member from each of the 22 cities and counties and two co-chairpersons.
The countermeasures committee plans to focus its activities over the next year on laying the foundation for the successful attraction of the Jeonnam Medical School at the provincial citizen level and preparing systematic and effective response measures for the attraction.
Assemblyman Jeon Seo-hyun stated, "Jeonnam has the highest elderly population rate in the country at 24.3%, and its medical accessibility is the most vulnerable. Additionally, the transfer rate of severe emergency patients to other regions is the highest among the 17 provinces, indicating fundamental limitations in Jeonnam's severe medical service provision infrastructure."
