Gangneung-si to Fully Launch 'Sunpo District Coastal Maintenance' Early Next Month
A Total Project Cost of 1.1 Billion Won Invested to Minimize Coastal Erosion Damage
[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] Gangneung City, Gangwon Province, announced on the 29th that "the coastal maintenance project in the Sunpo District will be actively carried out in early August to prevent coastal erosion."
The Sunpo District is a target area for the 3rd Coastal Maintenance Project selected by the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries due to severe beach loss and damage to coastal facilities caused by coastal erosion, raising concerns about human and property damage.
The city previously commissioned basic and detailed design services last year, conducting preliminary surveys, field investigations, and marine surveys.
With a total project cost of 1.1 billion KRW, the plan is to minimize erosion damage by reinforcing the entire existing breakwater section and installing a 230-meter-long erosion prevention facility on the slope.
