Park Seong-jik, chairman of Gangdong NongHyup, received the Innovative Manager Award in recognition of his efforts to lead the development of agriculture, rural areas, and NongHyup, as well as enhancing the role of urban NongHyup by signing a business cooperation agreement for win-win exchange between urban and rural areas with Hongcheon County last March and providing distribution channels. His leadership in spreading the value of eco-friendly agriculture through the establishment of the Healing Agriculture Center was also highly evaluated.
Gangdong NongHyup signed a business agreement with the Seoul Agricultural Technology Center in February last year and established the Healing Agriculture Center. Through this, it is revitalizing urban agriculture and providing a public space where citizens can heal.
There are also plans to develop part of the eco-friendly agriculture experience site into a healing-themed farm. Gangdong NongHyup expects this to serve as an opportunity to improve the welfare of marginalized and vulnerable groups as well as Seoul citizens, and to advance urban agriculture to the next level. Last year, it also achieved excellent results as a regional financial institution, including reaching 4 trillion won in financial assets, winning the NH Card Annual Award for regional excellence, and being selected as the top Bancassurance outstanding NongHyup.
