Donghak Lee: "Pro-Myeong? Anti-Myeong? I Will Run as 'Somyeong'... Youth Politics Should Not Be Blocked"
[Asia Economy Reporters Oh Ju-yeon and Park Jun-i] On the 28th, Lee Dong-hak, former Supreme Council member and candidate for the Democratic Party of Korea’s party representative in the upcoming August party convention, appealed for support by emphasizing his calling for youth politics at the preliminary cutoff competition held at the National Assembly.
In his cutoff policy presentation that afternoon, former Supreme Council member Lee said, "These days, pro-Myeong and anti-Myeong factions are trending, but I, Lee Dong-hak, stand for a calling," adding, "Recently, voices disparaging youth politics have been growing louder. While there are points for reflection, we must not block youth politics."
Former Supreme Council member Lee stated, "If the Democratic Party becomes one that blocks the challenges of youth, there will be no tomorrow for our party," and said, "Young people must continuously bring new era agendas into the Democratic Party."
He continued, "I, Lee Dong-hak, will become a milestone for the youth who are challenging," raising his voice to say, "We must change the Democratic Party’s priorities."
He expressed, "Let us move away from politics that wins by merely tripping up opponents without real improvement, or politics that loses again by being treated the same way, and instead pursue politics that protect the people from future threats."
Former Supreme Council member Lee said, "Let us move the Democratic Party’s clock to the future of 2050 and rebuild it as a party that protects the people from future threats such as climate threats, welfare threats, labor threats, and security and defense threats." He promised, "If I become the party representative, I will directly establish a broadly composed 'New Society Promise Committee' to prepare for the future." He also said, "Let us lead situations and issues to advance Korea and end the entrenched two-party vested interest politics of power handover."
