Seogwipo Fire Station Conducts Special Training for Natural Disaster Preparedness
[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] The Seogwipo Fire Station of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province (Chief Kim Jihyung) announced on the 28th that it conducted special training on the 27th at the Seogwipo Fire Station premises for 70 personnel including rescue team members to enhance response capabilities to natural disasters such as typhoons during the summer season.
This training was conducted to systematically carry out rescue activities appropriate to the situation and to remove hazards during on-site response activities in preparation for typhoons and heavy rains caused by abnormal climate.
The training included tailored exercises for different types of incidents such as ▲ safety measures for structures like signboards and traffic facilities ▲ removal of fallen trees such as street trees (chainsaw usage and practice) ▲ heavy object operations (rescue of isolated victims) ▲ and daily safety responses (door opening, bee repelling).
Chief Kim Jihyung stated, “Natural disasters caused by abnormal climate are inevitable, but we will ensure thorough on-site response activities by continuously conducting field-centered training to effectively cope with them.”
