According to AFP news agency on the 26th (local time), Lucapa, an Australian Securities Exchange-listed company, announced, "A 170-carat pink diamond called Lulo Rose was found at the Lulo mine in Angola." The pink diamond is known to be of the highest clarity grade, 'Type IIa,' with no blemishes.
The mining company owning the mine stated that the diamond was discovered in the Lulo alluvial diamond mine and was named the 'Lulo Rose.' The Lulo mine has already produced the largest and second-largest diamonds in Angola. One of them is a 404-carat transparent diamond.
So far, 27 diamonds over 100 carats have been excavated from the Lulo mine, and this pink gem is the fifth largest among the large gems mined from this mine.

The pink diamond is scheduled to be auctioned internationally through Sodiam, Angola's state-owned diamond trading company. Meanwhile, colored diamonds are rarer than colorless diamonds and have been traded at high prices in recent years. In April, a 15.10-carat 'De Beers Cullinan Blue' diamond was sold for $57.5 million (approximately 77.5 billion won) in Hong Kong.
