PGA Tour "LIV Golf Players Disqualified from PO Participation"
[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] The PGA Tour has banned players who transferred to LIV Golf, sponsored by Saudi Arabian capital, from participating in the FedEx Cup Playoffs (PO).
On the 27th (Korean time), the PGA Tour announced the FedEx Cup rankings reflecting eligibility for the PO. Eight players, including Taylor Gooch (USA), who was ranked 20th in the FedEx Cup, were excluded from the rankings because they participated in the LIV Golf Invitational Series. Additionally, Jason Kokrak, Charles Howell III (both USA), and Paul Casey (England), who are scheduled to compete in the third tournament starting on the 29th, remain in the rankings for now but are expected to be excluded after the tournament ends.

The PGA Tour converts tournament results into FedEx Cup points and selects the top 125 players at the end of the regular season to receive PO tickets and eligibility for the next season. The first PO event, featuring the top 125 in the FedEx Cup rankings, is the FedEx St. Jude Championship held on August 11 in Memphis, Tennessee, USA. The season concludes with the PO second round BMW Championship, where only the top 70 compete, and the final Tour Championship, where the top 30 compete, completing the 2021/2022 season.
