Gwangyang City Council, Ordinance and Rules Maintenance by the Steering Committee
Processing of 9 Items Including Basic Ordinance Proposal of City Council
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] The Operations Committee of the Gwangyang City Council in Jeonnam announced that it has processed nine ordinance and regulation proposals requiring the reflection of cited provisions due to amendments in higher laws and the revision of difficult phrases.
The amended ordinance and regulation proposals submitted to this extraordinary session include ▲ the Basic Ordinance of the Gwangyang City Council ▲ the complete revision ordinance on Administrative Affairs Audit and Investigation of the Gwangyang City Council ▲ the complete revision regulation on the Rules of the Gwangyang City Council meetings ▲ the complete revision regulation on the formation of the Ethics Special Committee of the Gwangyang City Council, among nine items in total.
The significance of the Basic Ordinance of the Gwangyang City Council lies in systematically organizing the council operation-related regulations, which were delegated by higher laws and scattered across individual ordinances and regulations, into a single ordinance.
Additionally, it concretizes the methods, procedures, and functions of administrative affairs audits, petition reviews, ethics special committees, etc., as stipulated in higher laws, aiming to improve operational efficiency.
Ahn Young-heon, Chairperson of the Council Operations Committee, stated, “Since higher laws delegate the authority to regulate these matters through ordinances, we intend to collectively revise the ordinance and regulation proposals that are essential for council operations but have not been updated for a long time, to promote efficient council management and stability.”
Meanwhile, this ordinance proposal is scheduled to be finally approved at the 2nd plenary session of the 311th extraordinary session on July 29.
