Shinhan Card Participates in Government's 'Overseas Big Data Policy Sharing'... Transferring Know-how to Malyeon
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Je-hoon] Shinhan Card participated in the government's overseas big data policy sharing project and transferred big data-related know-how to Malaysia.
On the 27th, Shinhan Card announced that as part of the domestic training program support for the '2021·22 Malaysia KSP Project' organized by the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Korea Development Institute (KDI), it shared cases of public policy formulation using big data with Malaysian government policy practitioners. The briefing session was held at Shinhan Card headquarters located in Euljiro, Jung-gu, Seoul.
The KSP (Knowledge Sharing Program) project is an 'Economic Development Experience Sharing Project' prepared by the Ministry of Economy and Finance to support the economic and social development of partner countries based on Korea's development experience, conducting research and advisory services with 89 countries and 12 international organizations.
As the industry leader, Shinhan Card introduced its business capabilities such as Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) management and digitalization promotion, while explaining trends in Korea's data industry. Additionally, to provide practical assistance to Malaysian policy work, it shared various successful cases of data analysis projects in the public sector, including tourism policy, COVID-19 response, and disaster relief fund effect analysis.
Meanwhile, last year, Shinhan Card conducted the first big data consulting project in Europe within the financial sector. It carried out a pilot project analyzing tourism consumption in the Basilicata region with 'Exo Ricerca,' a big data specialized institution in Italy, and plans to promote consulting projects supporting the revitalization of the tourism industry for governments and local authorities across Europe, including Italy, together with Exo Ricerca and the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute.

Furthermore, Shinhan Card signed a data supply contract with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and a strategic business agreement related to data business with Visa, the world's largest payment network company, continuously strengthening its global data consulting capabilities. A Shinhan Card official stated, "Thanks to the government's support for data economy activation policies, we were able to actively conduct social phenomenon analysis projects using card data," adding, "We will continue to discover various overseas markets based on accumulated experience and strive to connect this to value creation in domestic public and private sectors."
