Approval of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety Police Bureau Establishment Plan at the Cabinet Meeting Chaired by Prime Minister Han Deok-su
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] On the morning of the 26th, the government approved the "Partial Amendment to the Organization of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and Its Affiliated Agencies" to establish a Police Bureau within the Ministry of the Interior and Safety at the Cabinet meeting presided over by Prime Minister Han Deok-su at the Government Seoul Office.
The enforcement ordinance includes the establishment of the Police Bureau within the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the addition of 13 necessary personnel (1 Commissioner General, 1 Senior Superintendent, 1 Senior Superintendent or Grade 4 official, 4 Superintendents, 1 Chief Inspector, 4 Inspectors, and 1 Grade 3, Grade 4, or Senior Superintendent).
The government stated that the purpose is "to enable the Minister of the Interior and Safety to perform legal affairs related to the National Police Agency and the National Police Commission more systematically." The establishment of the Police Bureau within the Ministry of the Interior and Safety will be promulgated and enforced starting from the 2nd of next month.

Regarding the establishment of the Police Bureau, Prime Minister Han said, "(This enforcement ordinance) establishes a Police Bureau to administratively support the National Police Agency, which is an increasingly important public safety institution in our country, under the Minister of the Interior and Safety," and added, "I hope the Minister of the Interior and Safety will persuade and communicate well to promptly resolve all administrative issues related to the National Police Agency in accordance with this organizational restructuring."
