Kia Launches 2023 Sportage... Adds LPi Engine Model
Prices start from 24.74 million KRW... LPi starts from 25.38 million KRW
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] Kia announced on the 25th that it will launch the year-change model of the domestic best-selling compact SUV, the Sportage, called the ‘2023 Sportage.’
The 2023 Sportage, which will go on sale on the 26th of this month, features an economical LPi engine model and standardizes convenience features preferred by customers. The Sportage LPi model is equipped with a Smartstream L2.0 engine, delivering a maximum output of 146 horsepower (PS), a maximum torque of 19.5 kgf·m, and a combined fuel efficiency of 9.2 km/ℓ. With this, the Sportage completes its entire engine lineup by adding the LPi engine to gasoline, diesel, and hybrid options.
Additionally, Kia enhanced customer satisfaction by applying preferred features as standard according to each trim. ▲High-pass system on the Trendy trim ▲ECM room mirror on the Prestige trim ▲Smartphone wireless charging system on the Noblesse trim ▲Metal pedals and door scuff plates on the Signature trim are now standard. Along with this, the hybrid model has strengthened safety by applying the rear passenger alert system as standard across all trims.
The sales prices for the 2.0 LPi model are ▲Trendy 25.38 million KRW ▲Prestige 27.14 million KRW ▲Noblesse 29.65 million KRW ▲Signature 32.84 million KRW.
The 1.6 gasoline turbo model prices are ▲Trendy 24.74 million KRW ▲Prestige 26.51 million KRW ▲Noblesse 29.01 million KRW ▲Signature 32.20 million KRW; the 2.0 diesel model prices are ▲Trendy 27.24 million KRW ▲Prestige 29.01 million KRW ▲Noblesse 30.51 million KRW ▲Signature 34.70 million KRW; and the 1.6 turbo hybrid model prices are ▲Prestige 31.63 million KRW ▲Noblesse 33.30 million KRW ▲Signature 36.49 million KRW.

A Kia official stated, “The Sportage, launched last July, has surpassed 50,000 units in cumulative domestic sales within a year thanks to overwhelming customer support, driving growth in the stagnant compact SUV market. With the addition of the LPi engine to expand the lineup and the launch of the 2023 model with enhanced product competitiveness, we will further accelerate the Sportage craze.”
