Geumcheon Senior Choir Wins Bronze at National Choir Competition
Bronze Award at the National Golden Age (Eoreushin) Choir Competition... First Prize Since Establishment
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yuseonghun) announced that the Geumcheon-gu Senior Choir achieved the remarkable feat of winning the bronze prize at the National Golden Age (Senior) Choir Competition hosted by the National Choir.
The National Choir holds an annual choir competition to expand the base of choral music. This year's competition was divided into the National Children’s Choir Competition, National High School Choir Competition, and National Golden Age (Senior) Choir Competition. Last year, the competition was canceled due to gathering restrictions caused by COVID-19, but this year it was held through non-face-to-face video judging.
Since its founding, the Geumcheon-gu Senior Choir had regretted not being able to actively conduct face-to-face rehearsals due to strengthened social distancing measures, but winning this competition provided an opportunity to foster pride as residents and dignity as choir members through the rehearsal process.
The Geumcheon-gu Senior Choir was founded in November 2020 and consists of 45 members, including conductor Noh Yunseop. In the second half of the year, they plan to continue active external activities such as visiting concerts, regular concerts, and various local cultural events.
