Kim Jin-bu, Chairman of Gyeongnam Provincial Council, Visits Changwon Seokdong Water Purification Plant Site
Urging Thorough Water Quality Safety and Hygiene Management for Tap Water Supply
Chairman Kim Jin-bu of the Gyeongnam Provincial Council visited the Seokdong Water Purification Plant in Changwon with council members for an on-site inspection.

The visit was made to emphasize water quality safety following a series of complaints about chironomid larvae being found in the tap water supply system at the Seokdong Water Purification Plant in Changwon.
Chairman Kim and the council members carefully examined the sedimentation basin, filtration basin, and other facilities inside the purification plant while listening to explanations from the relevant officials.
They particularly urged thorough hygiene management to prevent larvae or foreign substances from appearing in the tap water supply system.
Chairman Kim stated, “Please ensure thorough management of the water purification production process so that residents can safely drink tap water,” and added, “The Provincial Council will also do its best to ensure the safe supply of tap water in Gyeongnam.”

Meanwhile, the province and city/county governments have been conducting joint inspections for three weeks from the 11th to the 29th to supply residents with tap water safe from larvae. As of the 20th, inspections have been completed at 30 out of 51 purification plants in the province.
