Attention is focused on whether the on-site commanders at the superintendent level will raise their voices collectively.
A local police chief who recently posted on the internal police network demanding the holding of a nationwide police chiefs meeting posted again on the 20th, stating, "A nationwide police chiefs meeting will be held at the Choi Gyu-sik Hall of the Chungnam Asan Police Human Resources Development Institute at 2 p.m. on the 23rd."
The chief said, "Regarding the holding of the nationwide police chiefs meeting, there has been no response from the National Police Agency, so from yesterday until today, we connected more than half of the police chiefs and superintendents nationwide online for discussions and surveys," adding, "Most expressed opposition to the establishment of the Police Bureau, and about 70% of those who participated in the survey agreed on the necessity of holding the meeting."
Regarding the purpose of the meeting, it was explained that since the Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced the draft presidential decree to establish the Police Bureau on the 15th and is currently undergoing a public opinion collection process, the meeting aims to sufficiently convey the police's opinions on this significant policy change.
