Kim Yong-jin, Nominee for Deputy Governor of Gyeonggi Province for Economic Affairs

Additionally, Yeom Tae-young, former Mayor of Suwon, was appointed as the chairman of the newly formed policy advisory body, the 'Gyeonggi Province Provincial Advisory Council.'
Kim, the appointed Economic Vice Governor, is originally from Icheon, Gyeonggi Province. He graduated from Sekwang High School and Sungkyunkwan University and earned a master's degree in Public Policy from the KDI School of Public Policy and Management.
After passing the 30th Administrative Examination in 1986 and entering public service, he served as Director of the Welfare and Labor Budget Division at the Ministry of Planning and Budget, Financial and Economic Attach? at the Embassy in the UK, Director General of External Economic Affairs, Director of Public Innovation Planning, Spokesperson for the Deputy Prime Minister, Social Budget Review Officer, and Planning Director of the Regional Development Committee. He also held positions as President of Korea East-West Power, Vice Minister of Strategy and Finance, and Chairman of the National Pension Service.
When Governor Kim Dong-yeon of Gyeonggi Province served as the first Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Strategy and Finance under the Moon Jae-in administration, Kim Yong-jin worked alongside him as the Second Vice Minister, jointly leading national fiscal and economic policies.
A provincial official explained the appointment background, saying, "Kim Yong-jin, the appointed Economic Vice Governor, is a fiscal and economic expert who has worked as an economic bureaucrat for over 30 years. In particular, as the Second Vice Minister of the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, he oversaw public institution policies and national finances and has experience leading cooperation through smooth communication with the National Assembly, so we expect strengthened communication with the Gyeonggi Provincial Council as well."
Before his official inauguration, Kim will undergo appointment procedures including review by the personnel committee.
On the same day, the province appointed Yeom Tae-young, former Mayor of Suwon, as the new chairman of the 'Gyeonggi Province Provincial Advisory Council.'
The 'Gyeonggi Province Provincial Advisory Council' is a major policy advisory body for the 8th local government, involving experts from various fields.

View original imageChairman Yeom was born in 1960 in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province. He graduated from Suwon Suseong High School and Seoul National University with a degree in Agricultural Chemistry.
During the Roh Moo-hyun administration, he served as a secretary at the Blue House Presidential Secretariat and as a standing auditor at the Korea National Park Service. He first ran for Suwon Mayor in 2010 and was elected. He was re-elected in 2014 and 2018, becoming the first three-term mayor in Suwon's history. Notably, he consistently worked to strengthen local decentralization and served as the chairman of the Korea Association of Mayors, Governors, and District Heads. Currently, he serves as the standing representative of the Korea Democratic Local Autonomy Leaders Council (KDLC), a nationwide grassroots politicians' solidarity organization.
Chairman Yeom is recognized as a top expert in local autonomy and decentralization and is considered the best person to embody Governor Kim Dong-yeon's philosophy of communication and cooperation.
The Provincial Advisory Council will be responsible for monitoring the progress of major provincial policies, suggesting improvements, planning new policies, and establishing strategies. It will address key pledges of Governor Kim Dong-yeon such as the establishment of the Special Self-Governing Province in Northern Gyeonggi, relocation of Suwon military airport, Startup Heaven Province, activation of the social economy, and strengthening communication with residents, as well as other major issues in Gyeonggi Province.
