Enhancing Department Competitiveness and Supporting Major Graduates' Workforce Supply... Dongmyeong University and Daesang Heavy Industries Sign 'Employment Agreement and Daesang Scholarship' Pact

View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Dongmyung University and Daesang Heavy Industries signed an industry-academic cooperation agreement on the 13th to enhance the competitiveness of the newly established Department of Marine Mobility at Dongmyung University in 2023 and to support the supply of major-qualified personnel to the company.
The event was attended by Dongmyung University President Jeon Ho-hwan, professors from the Department of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, Department of Mechanical and Robotics Engineering, Daesang Heavy Industries Director Choi Gwan-soon, Manager Cha Dong-kwon, and graduate representative employee Jeong Seok-jae.
According to the agreement, the two institutions will engage in broad mutual exchanges including ▲industry-academic cooperation in education and research fields for talent development ▲development and operation of customized specialized curricula for Daesang Heavy Industries ▲providing employment-linked scholarships of 4 million KRW per year to 10 students annually.
Director Choi Gwan-soon said, “Many Dongmyung University alumni are employed at Daesang Heavy Industries, and this agreement is the core of industry-academic co-growth where Dongmyung University and Daesang Heavy Industries can grow together,” emphasizing the importance of talent development through cooperation with the university.
President Jeon Ho-hwan stated, “We will cooperate to improve the educational environment and foster customized talents through mutual collaboration,” and expressed gratitude to the attending graduate representatives currently employed, saying, “Thank you for taking pride as Dongmyung University alumni and doing your best to shine the school in your positions.”
The Department of Marine Mobility at Dongmyung University, newly established in 2023, operates education reflecting industry demand centered on hands-on practical experience activities, and has attracted industry-academic scholarships for 15 students, which is 50% of the admission quota, through the activation of the industry-academic scholarship system.
The Department of Marine Mobility at Dongmyung University operates a ‘3+3 Bachelor’s and Master’s Integrated Program’ in the form of credit exchange, allowing students to study at Inha University and Pusan National University during their senior year and obtain a master’s degree.
Additionally, programs such as the ‘TU Global Campus Program,’ which enables students to take courses at American universities including DigiPen Institute of Technology, San Francisco State University, and Columbia University and connect to local employment in the U.S., are also operated to open career and employment pathways for enrolled students after graduation.
