On the same day, Acting Leader Kwon stated on his Facebook, "I sincerely apologize for my recent remarks related to the presidential office's recruitment. In particular, I apologize if I caused hurt to the youth."
He explained, "Although it should have been a priority to properly explain the so-called 'private recruitment' controversy to the public, the fact that the controversy grew due to my choice of words is entirely my fault. The special appointment of secretaries to elected officials is fundamentally different from the recruitment of general public servants. This applies not only to the presidential office but also to special appointments of local government heads and members of the National Assembly nationwide."
He continued, "While assisting President Yoon Seok-yeol's election, I saw many young people quietly fulfilling their roles throughout the campaign," adding, "They devoted themselves day and night without rest, not even on weekends, handling the candidate's schedule, messages, policies, and publicity in all areas." He further added, "It was thanks to the efforts of these unnamed young staffers that the older generation, who did not fully understand the thoughts of the youth, were continuously persuaded from within, which changed the election campaign and gained the support of the younger generation."
