Im Gyeong CJ Group Vice Chairman to Receive International Emmy Founders Award
"Significant Contribution to the Global Spread of Hallyu and the Development of the Cultural Industry"
Lee Mi-kyung, Vice Chairwoman of CJ Group, will receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at the International Emmy Awards. The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, which hosts the ceremony, announced the selection on the 19th (local time), stating that "she has made significant contributions to the global spread of Hallyu and the development of the cultural industry."
Since starting investment in the American film production company DreamWorks in 1995, Vice Chairwoman Lee has led the industrialization and globalization of Korean popular culture. She also served as executive producer for films such as "Parasite," which won four Academy Awards (Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best International Feature Film), as well as "Decision to Leave" and "Broker." Since 2020, she has been serving as Vice Chair on the board of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures.
Bruce Paisner, President of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, praised her as "a pioneer who has led Hallyu for over 25 years, demonstrating exceptional business insight with a deep affection for Korean culture." He added, "Through the Oscar win of 'Parasite,' a historic milestone for K-content, the world was able to recognize Vice Chairwoman Lee's dedication to Korean culture and the media industry."

The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences was established in 1969 to evaluate the excellence of television works outside the United States. It has 500 member organizations from major broadcasters in sixty countries. Every November, the Academy holds the International Emmy Awards ceremony in New York, USA, where it honors television programs from outside the United States as well as non-English language television programs aired in prime time in the U.S.
