BTS Appointed as Official Ambassadors for Expo 2030 Busan

[Asia Economy Sejong=Reporter Kim Hyewon] The 2030 Busan World Expo Bid Committee and Busan Metropolitan City held a commissioning ceremony on the 19th to appoint BTS as the promotional ambassadors for the 2030 Busan World Expo.
The ceremony was attended by the seven members of BTS, Han Duck-soo, Prime Minister and co-chairman of the 2030 Busan World Expo Bid Committee, Choi Tae-won, Chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Park Hyung-joon, Mayor of Busan, and Park Ji-won, CEO of HYBE Corporation. The ceremony was held offline and simultaneously broadcast live on the official 2030 Busan World Expo YouTube channel.
As promotional ambassadors, BTS will carry out various promotional activities including ▲hosting a global Busan concert to support the bid for the 2030 Busan World Expo ▲playing the role of promotional ambassadors during the competitive presentation (PT) at the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) General Assembly ▲guiding the inspection sites during the BIE on-site inspection ▲spreading promotional videos through official SNS channels.
Prime Minister Han has emphasized the importance of a one-team approach to concentrate national capabilities for a successful bid. The committee stated that appointing BTS, a global star loved worldwide, as promotional ambassadors is expected to serve as an opportunity to focus the attention and support of the public and, furthermore, the global community.

The 2030 World Expo will have its host city decided through the submission of the bid plan in September, three rounds of competitive PTs, an on-site inspection in early 2023, and a vote by BIE member countries at the end of 2023. If Korea’s bid is confirmed, the Expo will be held under the theme "The Great Transformation of the World, Voyage Toward a Better Future" from May 1 to October 31, 2030, for six months in the Busan North Port area.
