According to Seoul City on the 18th, the daily confirmed cases in Seoul as of 6 p.m. reached 12,260. This is a 2.5-fold increase compared to the total 4,896 cases reported the previous day.
This is the first time since April 26, when 11,516 cases were recorded, that the daily cases in Seoul have surpassed 10,000 in about 12 weeks. Considering there are still six hours left until midnight, the cutoff time for the tally, the total number of confirmed cases is expected to rise further.
After recording 11,516 cases on April 26, Seoul’s daily cases gradually decreased to 599 by the 26th of last month, but then jumped back to the 2,000s, reaching the 4,000s in the second week of July and around 9,000 in the third week, showing a 'doubling' phenomenon.
