According to foreign media including TASS News Agency on the same day, Deputy Chairman Medvedev visited Volgograd in southern Russia and said that if Ukraine and the West do not recognize Russia's control over the Crimea Peninsula and attempt to attack, it could pose an organized threat to Russia.
He emphasized, "Excited clowns often come out threatening to attack the Crimea Peninsula," adding, "Judgment Day will come very quickly and harshly. It will be very difficult to avoid."
Deputy Chairman Medvedev did not specify the exact meaning of "Judgment Day."
However, he previously stated that attempts to punish nuclear-armed countries like Russia due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine could put humanity at risk.
This statement came a day after Vadym Skibitsky, spokesperson for the Ukrainian Military Intelligence Directorate, said in a TV interview on the 16th (local time), "Since Russia has launched attacks on Ukrainian territory from the Crimea Peninsula and the Black Sea, they too can be legitimate targets of the U.S.-made High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS)."
The Crimea Peninsula is a region forcibly annexed by Russia in 2014 and is considered a strategic stronghold of Russia, housing the headquarters of the Russian Black Sea Fleet.
