Gwangju Seo-gu 'Smart Shared Parking Platform' Construction

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Yi-gang) announced on the 18th that it has established a ‘Smart Shared Parking Platform’ based on non-face-to-face artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT).

Seo-gu has been implementing various policies to resolve the severe parking shortage, but these information have not been sufficiently communicated to residents, resulting in low utilization rates of parking lots.

The ‘Smart Shared Parking Platform Service’ project is expected to improve and optimize parking lot utilization by providing residents with information such as the location of public parking lots operated by Seo-gu, the number of available parking spaces, and electric charging station information through a webpage and app (Web).

Seo-gu plans to collect parking usage-related information obtained through this service and use it as data for future parking policy planning and the introduction of an efficient parking lot operation management system to develop a unique mobility usage policy exclusive to Seo-gu.

To use this platform service, users can search for ‘Seogu Juchahaeon’ in the Android Market or App Store, install the app, sign up as a member, and register their vehicle. It also allows registration for parking fee reductions currently implemented by Seo-gu.

However, those eligible for parking fee reductions must possess means to prove related documents and qualifications.

By the end of this month, Seo-gu added features such as real-time display of available parking spaces, information on nearby shared parking lots, parking fee payment functions, pop-up windows for district promotion, and functions introducing good stores and sponsor stores within the district.

Additionally, the system will be further advanced to provide residents with diverse and useful information.

A Seo-gu official said, “We hope the Smart Shared Parking Platform will be of great help to residents experiencing inconvenience due to parking problems.”
