[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Sumi] A scene of Kim Jung-sook, wife of former President Moon Jae-in, coming out of her residence and responding to supporters has been captured, drawing attention.
On the 17th, around 300 supporters of former President Moon gathered on the road opposite his private residence near Pyeongsan Village in Yangsan, Gyeongnam, holding a peaceful protest.
This was a counter-rally against anti-Moon groups who have been holding daily gatherings and protests in front of the former president's residence since his retirement. Earlier, starting May 10, the day of Moon's retirement, conservative YouTubers and solo protesters have been conducting loudspeaker rallies and abusive protests day and night in Pyeongsan Village. As the number of villagers complaining about noise and other disturbances increased, the police restricted or banned assemblies that could disturb the residents' peace. However, complaints related to the protests continue.
In response, supporters of former President Moon held a rally under the name "Pyeongsan Village Happiness Protection Movement Headquarters," cheering for the restoration of daily life in the village. Wearing blue masks and holding yellow parasols, the group carried placards reading "We love former President Moon Jae-in and Mrs. Kim Jung-sook" and "We will protect Pyeongsan Village's peace." They also delivered letters expressing messages they wanted to convey to the former president.
During the rally, Mrs. Kim personally came out to the front yard of the residence, waving a blue cloth and making heart shapes with her hands in response to the supporters. Former President Moon also waved his hand from the residence to greet them. The participants, who had been holding a silent protest, cheered at that moment.

They wore grim reaper costumes or military uniforms and waved placards criticizing the former president. However, it was reported that no clashes occurred between the conservative group’s rally and the counter-rally. The police deployed 400 officers from four companies, placing a large number of order maintenance personnel between the two groups' rally areas.
