Gwangju National Science Museum Announces Recruitment for August Nighttime Astronomical Observation Program
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The National Gwangju Science Museum will hold the Starlight School and Night Sky Observation Log as night sky observation programs on the 3rd and 4th of next month, respectively.
Participants will be recruited starting from the 19th of this month.
'Starlight School' is open to anyone interested in astronomy, and teams of up to 3 people can participate.
The program includes fascinating astronomy stories set against the backdrop of the universe, finding seasonal constellations, and celestial observation using the largest starlight observatory main telescope in domestic science museums.
'Night Sky Observation Log' allows teams of up to 3 people from 3rd grade elementary school and above to participate.
This program involves learning about the types and principles of astronomical telescopes, assembling and operating telescopes directly to freely observe celestial bodies.
Participants will also experience astrophotography using telescopes and smartphones, and can take home the photos they have taken as souvenirs.
If celestial observation becomes difficult due to weather conditions, alternative programs such as making a Dobsonian telescope miniature will be offered.
The National Gwangju Science Museum strictly follows the COVID-19 prevention guidelines set by the government and local authorities and instructs all participants to wear masks.
The night sky observation programs may change depending on the COVID-19 situation.
