Sejong-si, Garam-dong Establishes 'Camping Car Exclusive Parking Lot'
[Asia Economy (Sejong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Sejong City is creating and operating a dedicated parking lot for camping vehicles in the Garam-dong area.
The city announced on the 15th that it will accept applications for the dedicated parking lot from the 25th to the 27th and start operating the parking lot from next month.
According to the city, the number of registered camping vehicles in the area increased from 68 in 2015 to 734 last year, a rise of 666 vehicles over the past six years. This is due to the spread of family-oriented leisure activities and camping culture.
The problem is that as the number of camping vehicles increases, so does the number of camping vehicles occupying specific areas for long periods, causing inconvenience to citizens. Some have consistently argued that installing dedicated parking lots for camping vehicles is necessary to solve this issue.
Accordingly, the city, in consultation with the Administrative City Construction Agency and Korea Land and Housing Corporation, has created a dedicated parking lot for camping vehicles in the Garam-dong 65 area.
The parking lot has a total of 180 spaces. Users are limited to Sejong citizens, and parking lot users will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis during the application period.
Applications can be made through the Sejong City Facilities Management Corporation website. Eligibility requires that the vehicle owner's registered address be in Sejong as of the day before the announcement, and the camping vehicle must also be registered in Sejong. Trailers are not allowed to use this parking lot.
Selected citizens can use the parking lot free of charge for three months from next month 8th to October 31st.
The city plans to accept a second round of applications in October, giving priority to citizens who were unable to use the camping car parking lot during the first recruitment.
Usage fees will be determined during the temporary operation period, considering parking lot accessibility, facility standards, city ordinances, and the operating conditions of the Facilities Corporation.
