"Taste Nostalgic Ice Cream at Convenience Stores" Seven Eleven Launches Two Unique Ice Cream Flavors
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Convenience store 7-Eleven has launched two unique new ice cream products, ‘Ice Shagurt’ and ‘Upongmi,’ to celebrate the summer peak season.
According to 7-Eleven on the 15th, the newly released Ice Shagurt is a pouch-type sherbet ice cream that combines the popular fruit Shine Muscat and the beloved snack yogurt, offering a sweet and tangy flavor. It features Pasteur yogurt containing over 100 million live probiotics.
Ice Shagurt is an upgraded version of 7-Eleven’s signature hit product, Ice Yogurt. Ice Yogurt was first developed and launched by 7-Eleven in 2016, quickly gaining tremendous popularity with cumulative sales reaching 2 million units within about three months. It remains a steady seller with consistent sales to this day.
Upongmi is a retro-concept product that reimagines the nostalgic nutritious snack Misutgaru as ice cream. It targets the taste preferences of the ‘Halmaennial’ trend (a retro craze favoring grandmother’s tastes) spreading mainly among the MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z). Made with 34% first-grade domestic milk and domestic five-grain Misutgaru, it is smooth and savory. Additionally, it contains glutinous rice cake inside the ice cream, providing a chewy texture.
7-Eleven is running a 2+1 promotion nationwide at all 7-Eleven stores until the end of next month, where customers who purchase two of the new Ice Shagurt or Upongmi products will receive one additional item for free.
