Kim Hyo-young, Simplex, and Kind Architects Office Win Young Architect Award
The Awards Ceremony Will Be Held on November 8 at the Korea Architecture Culture Festival
On the 14th, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced the selection of three companies as recipients of this year's Young Architect Award, in collaboration with the New Architects Association, the Korean Institute of Architects, and the Korean Women Architects Association. The selected firms are Kim Hyoyoung Architects Office (Kim Hyoyoung), Simplex Architects Office (Park Junghwan and Song Sangheon), and Kaind Architects Office (Lee Daegyu and Kim Woosang). Kim Hyoyoung Architects Office was praised for bringing a fresh breeze to the rigid domestic contemporary architectural environment through playful references and borrowings. Simplex Architects Office was recognized for addressing the complex issues and situations of Korean public sector architecture with refined imagery, meticulousness, and high completeness. Kaind Architects Office was acknowledged for its stimulation and exploration of synesthetic and emotional spaces in the digital era centered on visual culture. The Ministry plans to award the Minister's Prize and provide various opportunities such as hosting an exhibition of the works, publishing a collection of works, and participating in domestic and international architectural events. The award ceremony will be held on November 8 at the Korea Architecture Culture Festival. An exhibition of the winning companies' works will also be arranged.
