[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] SSG.com is launching an exclusive credit card that offers membership fee support, discount coupons, and purchase rewards. Following the official launch of the integrated membership 'Smile Club' in May, the company plans to secure additional loyal customers by introducing a card linked to these benefits.
On the 14th, SSG.com announced the release of the 'SSG.COM Card Edition2,' a private label credit card (PLCC) issued in partnership with Hyundai Card. This is the second time SSG.com has launched a PLCC with Hyundai Card, the first being in 2019.
The key feature of the new card is that it offers specialized benefits for both existing and new customers using the integrated membership 'Smile Club' of SSG.com, Gmarket, and Auction.
Cardholders are automatically enrolled in Smile Club. Along with the common Smile Club membership benefits such as 5% rewards on grocery shopping, up to 12% discount coupons, and Starbucks size-ups, cardholders receive exclusive SSG.com benefits including free delivery on grocery shopping and discount coupons for non-grocery (lifestyle) items. Additionally, customers who meet the previous month's spending requirement (300,000 KRW per month) are exempt from the Smile Club monthly fee of 3,900 KRW.
Separate from the 5% rewards on grocery items (SSG Delivery, Dawn Delivery) provided to Smile Club members, the card service allows up to an additional 7% rewards, capped at 10,000 KRW per month. For payments made outside of SSG.com, a 0.5% reward is applied. SSG Money can be used at all SSG Pay affiliated stores as well as nationwide Emart, Shinsegae Department Store, Starbucks, and other Shinsegae Group online and offline channels. When converted to Smile Cash, it can also be used like cash on Gmarket and Auction.
The card can be issued online through the SSG.com event page, and regular payment registration is applied simultaneously with Smile Club enrollment, allowing immediate use. When saved as a payment method via the application (app), it can be used at any SSG Pay affiliated store. The annual fee is 10,000 KRW, the same for both domestic-only and domestic/international (VISA) versions.

Meanwhile, SSG.com plans to continue promotional campaigns to attract new membership customers. Throughout July, every Monday, a 'Double Reward DAY' will be held, offering double the usual 5% rewards?10%?on grocery purchases. Additionally, starting at 9 a.m. daily, discount coupons of 50% and 20% applicable to specific categories such as beauty and fashion will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis. Other benefits include a free first-month membership for new Smile Club subscribers and Shinsegae gift certificates.
