On that day, Mayor Jeong Jong-bok prioritized visiting and conducting intensive inspections at three vulnerable roads prone to flooding: under the Donghae Nambu Line double-track railway bridge in Hwajeon-ri, Ilgwang-eup; the Samsung 2 underpass in Samsung-ri; and the Mugok underpass in Cheonggang-ri, Gijang-eup.
Gijang-gun has been managing disaster-prone areas by categorizing them according to disaster types due to the recent uncertainty in rainfall patterns and increased meteorological variability during the rainy season, such as localized heavy rains. The categories include ▲areas at risk of human casualties ▲vulnerable roads prone to flooding ▲large construction sites ▲steep slopes ▲areas at risk of falling rocks ▲and habitual flooding zones.
Special inspections will be conducted on 24 areas at risk of damage until the 15th, and countermeasures will be prepared accordingly.
To enable residents to respond quickly to natural disasters such as heavy rains and typhoons during the rainy season and minimize damage, guidelines for resident actions will be disseminated through various promotional media, including disaster text messages, electronic signboards, and village broadcasts.
