On the 12th, the Asia-Pacific Peace Exchange Association appointed singer Moon Hee-ok as a public relations ambassador at its office in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. The association plans to actively promote to the international community its efforts to correct historical injustices such as the forced mobilization during the Japanese colonial period for peace and shared prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region, and to encourage public participation.
Since debuting in 1987 during high school with "8-do Dialect Medley," Moon Hee-ok has performed authentic trot for 35 years and released numerous hit songs. His representative songs include "Sarang-ui Geori," "Gangnam Meotjaengi," and "Seongeun Kimiyo."
The Asia-Pacific Peace Exchange Association pursues peace and shared prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region. It has investigated the truth about victims of forced mobilization under Japanese rule and has led efforts to correct history, including repatriating the remains of 215 overseas victims in four separate occasions. It is a leading ethnic organization in this regard.
