Go held a press conference at the National Assembly Communication Office on the same day and said, "I will create a Democratic Party for all of us."
She pointed out, "The democracy we have built with our blood and sweat is being threatened by the unilateralism and autocracy of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration. In this era of economic crisis affecting people’s livelihoods, the government pursues a small government approach while neglecting its active role, and the ruling party is solely focused on internal power struggles."
She continued, "The path the Democratic Party must take in the face of democratic regression and the crisis of people’s livelihoods is clear. It is the path of a strong opposition party that takes the lead in caring for people’s livelihoods. In this era of anxiety and inequality, we must return to the fundamentals and firmly establish the roots of the Democratic Party. The Democratic Party will stand together with the people in crisis-stricken livelihood sites," she emphasized.
To this end, she explained that she would form a ‘Livelihood Politics Council’ together with civil society to steadily pursue livelihood reform tasks. She also added that the legal support team would be expanded and reorganized to counter the so-called ‘political retaliation’ actions of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration.
Go said, "An arrogant mindset that only I can fix things not only fails to gain sympathy but also deepens wounds between each other," and added, "I will break the gap between party members’ and public opinion and build a strong first opposition party, the Democratic Party."
Quoting former President Kim Dae-jung’s statement, "Democratic forces must unite and cooperate," Go stated, "The Democratic Party received the support and love of the people when it communicated with the field, allied with civil society, and advanced with livelihood legislation as its weapon. I will break the gap between party members’ and public opinion and create a proud ‘My Democratic Party’ for party members and a reliable ‘First Opposition Party Democratic Party’ for the people."

After declaring her candidacy, Go told reporters that regarding some Supreme Council candidates declaring themselves as factional candidates, "I think it is meaningless to define factions as pro-Myeong, anti-Myeong, pro-Moon, or anti-Moon. The first task of the next party leader is to narrow such gaps. The party leader should be someone who can eliminate the culture of division and show a united front."
