In May, the Dong-Eui University BLS Center received certification as a training institution for the Basic Life Support Provider course (BLS Provider) from the American Heart Association (AHA), qualifying it to provide basic life support training to healthcare professionals and the general public.
With this institutional certification, the center will conduct healthcare professional training for nursing students during the summer vacation and plans to open courses for general students and the public starting from the second semester.
Completion of the training course requires passing written and practical exams with a minimum score, covering skills such as chest compressions and automated external defibrillator operation knowledge. The certification is valid for two years.
CPR is an emergency treatment method that artificially circulates blood and assists breathing when cardiac arrest occurs. The chance of saving a cardiac arrest patient’s life is more than three times higher when CPR is performed compared to when it is not.
