Prime Minister Han Reports "Concerns of COVID Re-Yuhaeng"... Yoon Says "Preparing Response Suitable for Gwahak Bangyeok"
[Asia Economy Sejong=Reporter Kim Hyewon] Prime Minister Han Duck-soo has ordered thorough preparations for the resurgence of COVID-19.
On the 11th, the Prime Minister's Office announced that Prime Minister Han Duck-soo discussed preparations for the COVID-19 resurgence during a weekly meeting combined with lunch with President Yoon Seok-yeol at the Yongsan Presidential Office.
At the meeting, Prime Minister Han reported to President Yoon, "Recently, COVID-19 has shifted to a spreading trend, raising concerns about a summer resurgence," and added, "We plan to promote expanding hospital beds, vaccines and treatments, and inspecting vulnerable facilities."
In response, President Yoon instructed that thorough preparations for the COVID-19 resurgence be made centered on the Prime Minister, who is the head of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters, and that a response system fitting the new government's policy of 'scientific quarantine' be prepared. He also ordered that detailed explanations be provided to the public regarding the changing quarantine guidelines, according to the Prime Minister's Office.
Prime Minister Han continued, "Since the high prices are making people's livelihoods difficult, the Cabinet will unite its efforts to manage supply and stabilize prices of major items," and added, "We will focus on inspecting unfair practices such as collusion in the distribution process of essential daily goods." President Yoon requested, "Please thoroughly manage and inspect so that the measures announced by the government can be implemented swiftly on the ground."
