Ostem Implant Files 1 Billion KRW Damage Lawsuit Against Employee Embezzling 221.5 Billion KRW
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] Ostem Implant, where a embezzlement case involving 221.5 billion KRW occurred, has filed a damages lawsuit against former employee Lee (45), who was arrested and indicted, and his family members.
On the 4th of this month, Ostem Implant filed a damages lawsuit demanding 1 billion KRW against Lee and five others, including Lee's wife, younger sister, and sister-in-law couples, at the Seoul Southern District Court. The case was assigned to Civil Division 12 (Chief Judge Lee Young-pung), and the trial date has not yet been set.
Separately from the civil lawsuit, Lee and his family members are currently undergoing a criminal trial at the Seoul Southern District Court Criminal Division 14 (Chief Judge Kim Dong-hyun).
Lee, who served as the head of the finance team at Ostem Implant, was indicted in January of this year on charges of transferring 221.5 billion KRW in 15 installments from the company's account containing company funds to his own securities account between November 2020 and October 2021, and using it for stock investments and other purposes.
He was also additionally indicted along with his wife, younger sister, and sister-in-law on charges of actively conspiring to conceal criminal proceeds (violation of the Act on the Regulation and Punishment of Criminal Proceeds Concealment).

The court decided to consolidate the additional charges for trial, and the next hearing will be held on the 20th.
