Hanjin Publishes First ESG Report... "Establishing Eco-Friendly Logistics System"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Hanjin announced on the 11th that it has published the "2022 Hanjin ESG Report," which contains its ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) achievements and vision.
This first report of the year comprehensively includes strategies, activities, and achievements aimed at practicing ESG management by establishing an eco-friendly logistics system, growing together with stakeholders, and establishing responsible corporate governance.
The report covers the year 2021 as a baseline, with some achievements including content up to the first half of this year. It was prepared in accordance with the GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) standards, an international guideline for sustainable management reporting. To ensure accuracy and reliability of the information, it was verified by Lloyd's Register, an independent verification body. The report is available on Hanjin's website. The company plans to transparently communicate both financial and non-financial performance annually through the publication of ESG reports.
Through the report, Hanjin introduces various CSV activities linked to its logistics capabilities, such as eco-friendly logistics initiatives including a pilot project for electric delivery vehicles, cooperation on the use of eco-friendly lubricants for logistics vehicles, uniforms upcycled from discarded PET bottles, one-click delivery for small business owners, Digital Easy Order, "Gifts in My Wallet" to increase farmers' income, and joint marketing for Ham-an watermelons.
Additionally, external achievements are also introduced, including receiving a commendation from the National Police Agency for the Hope Tape campaign to find long-term missing children, winning the 8th CSV Porter Award in the "Project Win-Win Growth" category through social contribution activities, and receiving the Minister of the Interior and Safety Award in the "Life Safety" category at the 12th Happiness Plus Social Contribution Campaign.
A Hanjin official stated, "Hanjin, which has continuously pursued challenges and innovation for sustainable growth, will further strengthen communication with stakeholders such as shareholders and customers and leap forward as a leading ESG company that grows together with customers and society based on the founding philosophy of transportation for national prosperity."

Meanwhile, Hanjin has continuously strengthened ESG management and last year received an upgraded A grade, two levels higher than in 2020, in the ESG evaluation by the Korea Corporate Governance Service (KCGS).
