The joint crackdown on illegal banners was implemented to address issues such as the surge in promotional banners for apartments and other advertisements due to the revitalization of the local construction market through redevelopment and reconstruction, which caused traffic accidents and threatened pedestrian safety.
Up to this month, the city, autonomous districts, and the Outdoor Advertising Association have conducted seven joint clean-up operations, collecting approximately 11,331 illegal advertisements. The city believes the monthly amount of illegal banner collection is decreasing, indicating visible effects of the cleanup efforts.
In particular, during the joint cleanup operation yesterday, the city, five autonomous districts, and the Outdoor Advertising Association deployed 32 personnel on-site and removed banners equivalent to nine 1-ton trucks along 11 routes.
The city and the five autonomous districts plan to continue efforts to establish effective enforcement measures in addition to the ‘Guerrilla-style Joint Crackdown on Illegal Banners’ to eradicate illegal banners that spoil the urban landscape and threaten citizen safety.
