Ahn Cheol-soo's Side: "'700 Million Won Memorandum' Claim of Using It for Unification Is Absurd Slander"
[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] On the 9th, Ahn Cheol-soo, a member of the People Power Party, refuted JTBC's report that the '70 million won investment memorandum' written by Kim Cheol-geun, chief of staff to Lee Jun-seok, was used during the last presidential election for the unification between President Yoon Seok-yeol and Ahn.
Ahn Cheol-soo's office stated in a notice that day, "The claim that the 70 million won investment memorandum, suspected to have been created to destroy evidence, was used as a bargaining chip during the unification process between candidates Yoon Seok-yeol and Ahn Cheol-soo in the last presidential election is an absurd slander," adding, "The candidate unification was a pure dedication and decision in accordance with the historical mission of regime change and the national mandate to normalize the country."
They continued, "Any attempt to undermine the cause of candidate unification and regime change will face public outrage," emphasizing, "We will respond strongly to the dissemination of false information and issue a stern warning that such acts can be punished under relevant laws."

JTBC reported the day before that the 70 million won investment memorandum, for which Kim wrote a fact confirmation stating 'there was no sexual bribery' and received it, influenced the unification between candidates Yoon Seok-yeol and Ahn Cheol-soo, according to Jang, the whistleblower of Lee's sexual bribery allegations. This memorandum became the decisive evidence for the party's Ethics Committee to impose a 'six-month suspension of party membership' on Lee.
