Busan Mayor Park Hyung-jun Meets Yoon, Proposes 'Busan Expo Hosting and KDB Relocation'
"Busan Expo Hosting Is the Fastest and Most Important Regional Balanced Development Strategy"
[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Tae-min] Park Hyung-jun, Mayor of Busan, repeatedly requested President Yoon Seok-yeol on the 8th to actively support the hosting of the 2030 Busan World Expo and the relocation of the Korea Development Bank to Busan.
Mayor Park said at the first meeting between President Yoon and the elected governors of the 8th local government term held at the presidential office in Yongsan, Seoul, in the afternoon, "Hosting the 2030 Busan Expo, linked with the government's national agenda, is the fastest and most important local balanced development strategy."
He also proposed, "Please grant authority so that Busan City can take the lead in handling the early construction of Gadeokdo New Airport and the redevelopment of Bukhang, which are prerequisites for hosting the Expo, free from central government regulations."

Additionally, Mayor Park stated, "With the promotion of the Korea Development Bank's relocation, expectations for regional balanced development through the relocation of public institutions are higher than ever," and added, "We hope for continuous interest and support regarding the relocation of the Korea Development Bank to make Busan a financial city comparable to the metropolitan area."
