Noh Seung-yeol's Revival Signs "Starting 4 Under Par"... Svensson Leads at 10 Under Par
On the First Day of the Barbasol Championship, Tied for 34th, Gobea and Russell Tied for 2nd, Villegas Tied for 4th, Kang Seong-hoon Tied for 71st
[Asia Economy Reporter No Woo-rae] No Seung-yeol (31, photo) was a golfer representing Korea.
After being a national representative, he won the 2008 Asian (APGA) Tour Media China and the 2010 DP World Tour (formerly European Tour) Maybank Malaysia, attracting the spotlight. In 2011, he crossed over to the United States through the PGA Tour Qualifying (Q) School and stood at the top at the Zurich Classic in April 2014. Following 'Tank' Choi Kyung-ju (52), 'Man of the Wind' Yang Yong-eun (50), and Bae Sang-moon (36), he became the fourth Korean ever to win a PGA Tour championship.
He enlisted in November 2017 and was discharged in August 2019. Although he returned to the PGA Tour in 2019, he struggled to achieve good results. His best performance was a tie for 11th place at the Travelers Championship in July 2020. This season, he participated in 18 tournaments but was cut off seven times. However, No Seung-yeol is showing signs of gradually escaping his slump. He placed tied for 35th and tied for 43rd in the last two tournaments and started smoothly in Kentucky as well.
On the 8th (Korean time), No Seung-yeol scored 4 under par on the first day of the Barbasol Championship (total prize money $3.7 million) held at Kirtland Golf Club (par 72, 7,328 yards) in Nicholasville, Kentucky, USA, placing tied for 34th. He made four birdies at holes 11, 15, 18, 3, and 6 but made a bogey on the last 9th hole (par 3) when his tee shot landed in a bunker. He relied on his long drives up to 344 yards and scrambling ability (85.71%) to save par when missing the green.
