★Mint Chocolate Fans Attention★ You Can Eat Mint Chocolate and Donate!
If You're Going to Eat Anyway, How About Joining a Good Cause?
If you clicked on this article, chances are you are a ‘Mincho-dan’ (Mint Choco Squad), right? Then you’ve come to the right place. If you’re planning to eat mint chocolate, head to Ediya. They say you can make a donation by eating mint chocolate at Ediya, but what does that even mean? Ediya has introduced four types of mint chocolate bakery items, and a portion of the sales proceeds will be donated. Through the Community Chest of Korea, known as Sarangui Yeolmae (Fruit of Love), the donations help provide counseling, treatment, and education to children in vulnerable groups. It’s such a great cause that I wanted to join in, so I went to check it out. You can even receive a donation certificate♥.
The new menu items are ‘Mint Choco Fresh Cream Bread,’ ‘Mint Choco Ice Cream Waffle,’ ‘Mint Choco Fresh Cream Castella,’ and ‘Mint Choco Croffle.’ I ordered all except the Mint Choco Croffle, and I’ll share why along with tips on how to enjoy them even more. COME ON!
Mint Choco Fresh Cream Bread
The honey bread is cut into nine pieces and stacked on top, creating a visual that’s perfect for SNS certification photos. The balance of the right amount of whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and mint chocolate sauce was very harmonious. Compared to regular honey bread, the Mint Choco Fresh Cream Bread is quite crispy. If you like chewy bread texture, I recommend boldly choosing another menu item. I thought the warmth of the bread would make the mint chocolate sauce feel off-putting, but it was just like a warm mint chocolate drink, so I wasn’t disappointed.
Mint Choco Ice Cream Waffle
This bakery item features chewy and savory authentic Belgian waffles topped with vanilla ice cream. Chocolate sauce and mint chocolate sauce are drizzled lightly on top. Here’s why I didn’t choose the croffle: Of course, the butter-scented croffle is great, but with the coolness of mint chocolate plus the ice cream, it reminded me of Baskin-Robbins mint chocolate ice cream. The croffle is topped with whipped cream, chocolate chips, and sauces, but the way I recommend is to add chocolate chips to this menu?it would be really good.
Mint Choco Fresh Cream Castella
This was the bakery item I was most looking forward to. From the name to the visual, if you’re a Mincho-dan, you can’t help but love it. Inside the moist chocolate castella is soft mint chocolate fresh cream. The texture was closer to ice cream than whipped cream, and after fully thawing over time, it became even softer. However, the amount of cream was too little compared to the bread, which was quite disappointing. Also, compared to the mint chocolate sauce on the honey bread or waffle, the mint flavor was not fully felt, so I was more disappointed than I expected.
The four Ediya bakery items are not at all overwhelming, even for mint chocolate beginners. If you want to try mint chocolate, I recommend doing so while making a donation?two birds with one stone!
