Kia announced on the 6th that it has successfully completed the social contribution activity 'Green Light Project' conducted in Vietnam and Rwanda and has completed the transfer of the self-reliance model to the local communities. With this, Vietnam and Rwanda have become the tenth and eleventh bases where Kia's 'Green Light Project' has completed local transfer.
The 'Green Light Project' is Kia's global representative social contribution activity aimed at ultimately helping communities achieve self-reliance by providing infrastructure and self-reliance programs to communities in need of support in areas such as economy, education, health, and environment.
As part of this 'Green Light Project,' Kia has been promoting activities to solve environmental pollution and health problems in Mai Chau District near Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, for three years since July 2019.
Together with the global NGO organization Good Neighbors, Kia improved the environment of Mai Chau District and helped improve residents' quality of life and self-reliance through ▲establishing an eco-friendly waste disposal system ▲operating waste collection trucks ▲implementing environmental protection awareness campaigns.
Kia has also been conducting the 'Green Light Project' for five years since July 2017 in the Gahengeri area of Rwanda, Africa, to help economic self-reliance.
As a result, in June, Kia completed support for the 'Green Light Project' conducted in Vietnam and Rwanda, held a transfer ceremony locally, and handed over full authority of the project to the respective governments and local communities. Kia plans to conduct local monitoring over the next few years to ensure stable self-reliant operation.
Meanwhile, since launching the 'Green Light Project' in 2012, Kia has been conducting social contribution activities by operating middle schools, health centers, vocational training centers, etc., targeting 12 bases in 9 countries across Africa and Asia, including Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Uganda, for 10 years.
With the Ghana base scheduled for local transfer next year as the last one, Kia plans to introduce a new direction of the 'Green Light Project 2.0' linked with eco-friendliness and mobility.
