Seongnam City Provides 200,000 KRW Monthly per Child to Teen Parent Households
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province will provide child-rearing expenses of 200,000 KRW per child per month to households with teenage parents whose income is below 60% of the median income.
Seongnam City announced on the 6th that it will implement a "Pilot Project for Childcare Support for Teenage Parents" for six months from this month until the end of the year, in accordance with government policy.
Teenage parent households refer to those where both the mother and father raising the child are 24 years old or younger.
Households maintaining a marital relationship, including common-law marriages, and actually raising children are eligible for support.
The applicable standard of 60% of the median income is ▲2,516,821 KRW per month for a 3-person household ▲3,072,648 KRW per month for a 4-person household ▲3,614,709 KRW per month for a 5-person household or less.
The city will support 24 children from 20 teenage parent households.
Teenage parents wishing to apply for support can submit their application at the administrative welfare center of their child's residential district with identification, family relation certificate, and income proof documents.
