Creating Learning Spaces Beyond the Classroom Through Flexible Class Hours
Students of Gimhae Foreign Language High School are presenting theme-based projects.
View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kang Sharon] Gimhae Foreign Language High School announced on the 5th that it operated a school autonomous education curriculum for all students from June 27 to July 1, based on flexible class hours.
The school autonomous education curriculum is a theme-centered integrated education project in which all teachers and students participate in eight projects.
This project was conducted on various themes such as ▲Understanding the US-China conflict and the international community ▲Comparing sociocultural changes according to disasters by cultural zones ▲2040 future education reform simulation ▲War and peace, followed by the production of English broadcast news, exhibitions, and presentations.
In line with the school's goal of "cultivating leading talents proficient in foreign languages," the projects explored and compared various cultures and languages of English, Chinese, and Japanese.
Lee Hyun-joo, a third-year student who participated in the project, said, "It was an opportunity to go beyond the limitations of simply acquiring language in regular classes and to deeply understand the culture, enabling deeper learning of the major language."
