Court Allows Limited March for KCTU 'Workers' Rally' on the 2nd
Gatherings around Sungnyemun, Euljiro, and Cheonggyero... March to Samgakji near the 'Presidential Office'
Court: "March section must be passed as quickly as possible once... Disperse immediately after completion"
[Asia Economy Reporter Heo Kyung-jun] The nationwide labor rally march hosted by the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) on the 2nd will be allowed within a limited scope.
The Seoul Administrative Court, Administrative Division 4 (Presiding Judge Kim Jeong-jung) partially accepted KCTU's request for suspension of the enforcement of the assembly ban issued by the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency on the 1st.
Accordingly, KCTU will be able to hold the main assembly on the 2nd afternoon around Seoul Plaza, along Sejong-daero (Sungnyemun), Euljiro, and Cheonggye-ro areas, and then march to Samgakji Station near the Yongsan Presidential Office.
The court permitted the march along the section from Sejong-daero (Sungnyemun) passing through the Seoul Station intersection to the Samgakji Police Substation, allowing the use of up to three lanes without encroaching on the bus-only lanes. The maximum number of marchers was set at 30,000.
