'Unauthorized Parking Enforcement'... Legoland Lowers Parking Fees Amid Growing Visitor Complaints
Change to hourly rate: Parking fees reduced from the 1st
3,000 KRW per hour up to 4 hours... Daily fee adjusted from 18,000 KRW to 12,000 KRW
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] As complaints from users about the expensive parking fees at Legoland Korea Resort (Legoland) in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, have spread, Legoland will change to an hourly system and reduce parking fees starting from the 1st.
Legoland stated, "After recently discussing the parking fee reduction with Gangwon Development Corporation, which owns the parking lot site, we decided to change the parking fees to an hourly system."
The regulation of free parking for up to 1 hour remains unchanged, but the fees have been changed to ▲3,000 KRW for 1 hour to less than 2 hours ▲6,000 KRW for 2 hours to less than 3 hours ▲9,000 KRW for 3 hours to less than 4 hours ▲12,000 KRW for 4 hours or more.
Legoland, which had caused controversy due to excessively high parking fees, previously charged a flat rate of 18,000 KRW per day, but has now divided the fees by time.
Previously, the parking fee at Legoland, which opened on Children’s Day, May 5, was free for 1 hour, but after that, the daily fee was a flat 18,000 KRW regardless of the time.
This was more expensive than the daily parking fees at other large theme parks in different regions, and there were no discounts for compact cars or vehicles for the disabled, leading to continued dissatisfaction among users.
Additionally, some users parked on the embankment roads around Legoland to avoid the expensive parking fees, and although Legoland had no authority to enforce regulations, they placed no-parking stickers on these vehicles, which further escalated the controversy.
The Legoland parking lot can accommodate about 5,000 vehicles. However, due to the high parking fees, users have been parking on side roads.
