Temporary Relaxation of Gyeonggi-do Emergency Welfare System Standards Extended Until the End of This Year
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will extend the temporary relaxation of criteria for the 'Gyeonggi Province-type Emergency Welfare System,' which supports households facing urgent crises due to unemployment or illness, until December 31.
The province announced on the 1st that since January, it has been operating the Gyeonggi Province-type Emergency Welfare System with temporarily relaxed income and property criteria until June to support citizens in crisis, and has decided to extend the operation for six more months due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.
Additionally, following the increase in the Ministry of Health and Welfare's 'Emergency Welfare Support Project' livelihood support amount on the 1st, the livelihood support amount for the Gyeonggi Province-type Emergency Welfare System was also raised from 1.31 million KRW to 1.54 million KRW per month (based on a family of four).
The eligible households for support include ▲cases where the main income earner's death, runaway, disappearance, or detention causes household livelihood difficulties ▲cases where the main income earner suffers from a serious illness or injury ▲households that have lost income for more than one month, even after losing employment insurance benefits ▲small business owners experiencing income reduction of 25% or more.
The support criteria are income below 100% of the median income (monthly income of 5.12 million KRW for a family of four), ▲property criteria of 395 million KRW or less in urban areas, 266 million KRW or less in rural areas, and financial assets of 17.68 million KRW or less (based on a family of four).
If the crisis reason and income and property criteria are met, households of four can receive monthly living expenses of 1.54 million KRW and medical expenses up to 5 million KRW.
