Hyundai Ioniq 5 Receives Top Rating in US Crash Test Evaluation
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] Hyundai Motor's Ioniq 5 received the highest rating, Top Safety Pick Plus (TSP+), in a crash evaluation conducted by the U.S. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the company announced on the 1st.
IIHS, a nonprofit organization established in 1959, conducts comprehensive evaluations of crash safety performance for vehicles released annually in the United States. To receive a TSP rating, a vehicle must earn the highest rating (Good) in all six crash safety categories, including driver and passenger seats, receive an Advanced or Superior rating in the front crash prevention system, and at least a Good rating in the headlight evaluation. To qualify for TSP+, the vehicle must also receive at least a Good rating in the headlight evaluation across all trims.

The Ioniq 5 earned the highest rating in all six crash safety categories and received the highest Superior rating in the front crash prevention system evaluation. Previously, in October last year, it also received the highest five-star rating from the European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP).
