Police Raid GH Over Allegations of Secret Camp Next to Lee Jae-myung's Residence
Search and Seizure Starting from 9:30 AM
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] On the 30th, the police conducted a search and seizure at the headquarters of Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Corporation (GH) regarding suspicions that the dormitory for GH employees next to the apartment of Lee Jae-myung (Democratic Party of Korea) in Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, was used as an election office.
The Anti-Corruption and Economic Crime Investigation Unit of the Southern Gyeonggi Provincial Police Agency has been executing a search warrant at the GH headquarters in Suwon City since 9:30 a.m. that day.
A police official explained, "This is part of an investigation into a reported case that the house next to the lawmaker, which GH rented as a dormitory for employees, was improperly used as an election camp, etc." It is reported that the police started the search and seizure to verify the circumstances under which GH rented the adjacent house as an employee dormitory and whether employees actually used it.
