11 Foreigners Arrested for Group Assault in Incheon
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] A group assault incident involving foreigners occurred in Incheon, resulting in 11 people being detained by the police.
On the 30th, the Yeonsu Police Station in Incheon announced that they had arrested 10 foreigners in their 20s to 30s, including Mr. A, on charges of joint injury under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment, etc. of Specific Crimes.
The police also booked Mr. B, a Kazakhstani national in his 20s, without detention on charges of injury.
They are suspected of collectively assaulting Mr. B on a street in Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, at around 4:20 a.m. on the 19th, causing him injury.
It was investigated that Mr. A and nine others caught and assaulted Mr. B, who is of the same nationality, after he was intoxicated, hit Mr. A, and tried to flee. All of them are foreigners with Russian, Uzbek, and Kazakhstani nationalities and fled immediately after the crime.
Upon receiving the report and arriving at the scene, the police first booked Mr. B on injury charges and, judging that there was a high possibility of retaliatory crime among foreigners, formed a dedicated arrest team.
Based on CCTV footage from the crime scene, the police tracked the escape routes of Mr. A and others and arrested all suspects between the 20th and 26th in Yeonsu-gu and other areas.
