US Department of Commerce Adds 5 Chinese Companies Supporting Russian Military to Blacklist
A Total of 36 Companies from 9 Countries Including 5 Chinese Firms Added
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] Major foreign media reported on the 28th (local time) that the U.S. Department of Commerce added five Chinese companies, including Konek Electronic and Kingpie Technology, to the blacklist for supporting the Russian military and defense industry.
The Department of Commerce added a total of 36 companies from 9 countries to the sanctions list, including the five Chinese companies. Besides China, the countries of the sanctioned companies include Russia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Lithuania, Pakistan, Singapore, the United Kingdom, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam. Among the 36 companies, only five are Chinese, but 25 companies are known to conduct business based in China.
In a statement regarding this measure, the U.S. Department of Commerce explained, "The United States is sending a strong message that it will sever ties with any organization or individual worldwide that supports Russia."
